A soft contact lens is made of a sythetic material with a high water content. Contrary to rigid contact lenses, the soft lens with 'stick' to the cornea. A distinction is drawn between hypdriphilic and hydrophobic contact lenses. The hydrophilic version absorb tear fluids and store them. The hydrophobic types are made of silicone, have a high oxygen transmissibility and are water repellent.
